According to national statistics, about one in five new drivers will be involved in traffic accidents during their first year of driving. This is why the government has introduced the Pass Plus scheme, designed for drivers who have passed their driving test but wish to further improve upon their driving skills.

Pass Plus is an advanced driving course designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) for people who have passed their driving test. It allows you to further your driving skills in a structured manner with the help of an approved driving instructor. There is no test. At the end of the course you will be given a Pass Plus certificate to confirm you are a Pass Plus qualified driver. Apart from making you a safer driver, obtaining a Pass Plus qualification can also reduce your car insurance premiums.

The Pass Plus course consists of six modules, each being at least one hour long. It covers:

• motorway practice,
• driving in residential areas,
• night time driving,
• driving in difficult weather conditions,
• driving on rural roads and
• dual carriage ways.
